In which we celebrate Father’s Day with a poem by the great Seamus Heaney, and take a little ramble down a brain-lane. This week’s riff, like this week’s discussion on Threads (hop on and join the conversation, and many thanks to those of you’ve who’ve shared—I’ll be in there shortly to jump in as well), is on the idea of home.
Thanks for joining me this Dad’s Day, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts over on Threads! -M
ps. Keep an eye out for a bonus audio post this week—we’ll have the great fortune of hearing Kim Shuck, the 7th Poet Laureate of San Francisco, read us the gorgeous new poem, which appeared in this week’s essay, “No Trace.” In the meantime, do yourself the favor of picking up Kim’s latest collection, Pick a Garnet to Sleep In (Scapegoat Press), pronto. You can read more about her writing, teaching, and beadwork at the Academy of American Poets and www.kimshuck.com, read an interview with her at Poetry Flash, and purchase her books.
