Riffs & Rants from the Road: Episode 19

A holiday poem, an explanation, and a wish

Hello, friends!

Ok, explanation first - I am now so freaking behind on responding to your wonderful, beautiful, generous, inspiring, inspired comments on recent Going Solo posts that the system has jammed and made a clunking sound and I have acheived peak Introvert Paralysis (I made that up) wherein introverts feel “too visible” and “can’t people” (where people = a verb) not because we don't like people but because we are socially awkward even when typing.

So, being paralyzed by the prospect of going through lo! these many weeks of your wonderful comments and trying to respond not only in my head but IRL, I am going to unplug myself and plug myself back in and see if that resets me.

My deep hope is that for the time being you will accept the poem I have brung you in lieu of something like a fucking answer, which I guess is like a cat showing up with a dead mole and being like Here you are, I love you so much.

But in fact I do. So.

I’ll see you back here Friday for this week’s Going Solo, Part 2 of “To Build a Fire.” A quick reminder that paid subscriptions are 30% off through the end of the year - nothing is paywalled, nothing will be, but if you’re of a mind to make a gift of Going Solo and boost your local indie writers in the process, now’s a great time to do it.

Get 30% off for 1 year

In the meantime, joyful holidays to those who celebrate, and above all - peace.
