I love the illustrated version of your story. The photos add something - depth? Reality? Humanness? I'm not sure how to name what I feel when I read your words with pictures, but this was a great idea.
thank you! I am so happy to know this, I've been playing with the idea of integrating more visual, still and video, into the text-based posts—I will take this as a green light!
Has it really been two years since you started living on the road? I'm so glad I came across your IG account before I decided to delete mine and leave all social media behind. Your words and experiences are valuable and I'm glad I get to witness them.
It has! On the nose, as a matter of fact. I think I got on instagram about six months after I'd set out, and boy howdy I'm SO glad we crossed paths before you (wisely) skedaddled—I just love having you here. <3
gotta say—from Minneapolis—where I have the joy of knowing your fierce mother—that your journey and writing do some alchemy with my 80 year old spirit. You stoke the fires that are still burning—make me laugh and love your honesty. Your writing—since your first books —seem always about life, messy, weird, ultimately worth the struggle. Thanks.
Thank you so much, David. My mother is indeed fierce and mighty, and a joy. And if whatever I'm able to conjure between language and travel speaks to you and makes you laugh, good—I could not ask for a better outcome than that.
The photograph of Zeke riding in the truck for the first time is absolutely perfect.
Doesn't she have this look like DOES THIS THING HAVE MORE GEARS

...Zeke's first ride. That made me tear up. You also have gotten more striking throughout the years, M. ❤️
Thank you, lovely. She's haunting the truck now, of course.
